False Memories are fundamentally, unintended human errors, which results in people having memories of events and situations that did not actually occur. It’s worth noting that in humans there are both true and false memories, these false memories occur when a mental experience is incorrectly taken to be a representation of a past event. For example, when people are asked to describe something that happened at a particular time, people rarely deliver accurate answers. Based on research, in eyewitness testimony, the confidence people show while recalling a memory is not an accurate representation of the truth. The scores were conducted simply by using the website and doing the â€Å"False Memory† lab and a computer. Participan ts were asked to read the instructions in the Coglab website. Procedure The experiment consisted of 6 trials that contained words such as: sleep, bed, tired etc. The participants were asked to look at the rectangle on the screen before starting the trials. In the first trial, the participants were asked to press the â€Å"start trial† button because a fixation dot would appear in the middle of the screen. The participants were asked to stare at the computer until a sequence of words appeared, with each word was presented for one second. After a full sequence was presented, a set of buttons were shown, each labeled with a word. Some the words were on the list, and some were not. The participant’s task was to click or tap on the buttons to indicate which words were in the sequence. The sequence of words consisted of the actual words shown or related or unrelated words. For example, some trials consisted of all sleep related content to see if the participant would select items that were related or select items that were not in the sequence. After identifying the words that were shown in the sequence, they would receive feedback on the accuracy of their memory. Drew Pauley Ms.Neeley English 10 6 May 2016 Title A reappearing subject in the classic book â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird,† revolved around equality for African-Americans. Tom Robinson, an African American, was falsely convicted of rape. This problem is still relevant in today’s society. There have been recent cases that have raised awareness for true equality. White cops have been killing African-Americans and getting away with it. A boy named Tamir Rice was killed in a park for playing with a toy gun. A man who was not resisting arrest was choked to death. African Americans will never be equal in our society, because there are too many higher up officials who don’t believe in true equality. In the book â€Å"To Kill a Mockingbird,† Tom Robinson, an African American was accused of rape by Robert E Lee Ewell. Mr. Ewell told the sheriff, Heck Tate, that Tom raped his daughter Mayella Ewell. Mr. Ewell is a poor man in Maycomb who is hardly respected in the community. There was hardly any factual evidence presented in the court case. The testimony of Mayella Ewell was very poor. American vs. Chinese Culture Free Essays

Psychological anthropology is the study of individuals and their personalities and identities, within particular cultural contexts (Miller, 2007). Although American and Chinese people are raised in different cultures, their cultures are somewhat similar. Even though individuals are raised thousands of miles apart, is it possible to possess some of the same personality traits? In the American culture, baby showers are held to celebrate the impending birth of a baby. Whereas, girls are encouraged to play with dolls, cook with toy stoves, and play house to promote nurturing. As the child grows into adolescence, this is reinforced in the chores delegated to them. Boys are expected to cut the grass, take out the trash, and help out with any other â€Å"handyman† jobs. Girls are expected to wash dishes, do the laundry, sweep and mop floors. Hence, the stereotyping begins. This stereotyping is evident in adulthood. Men are labeled as providers, protectors, and head of the household. Men are expected to work to support their families. Men are often pressured to assert their masculinity and strength within there jobs and at home. Today, men are beginning to take on more responsibilities within the home. Women are labeled as mothers, housekeepers, and nursemaids, to name a few. Many years ago, women were not respected in the workforce. Their job selection was very slim, mainly secretaries. However, during World War II women took the place of men in the workforce showing they could perform the jobs just as well as the men. Today, women are highly accepted in the workforce and hold high powered positions within companies and even own their own businesses. Once men and women reach their senior years, they have achieved their social status. They are afforded the opportunity to retire from the workforce. In doing so, they are able to travel or just enjoy life at their leisure. They no longer have to pay taxes and receive their social security benefits as their compensation for working. Unlike the American culture where there is no animosity over the gender of babies, Chinese culture is different. Boys are considered treasured, so much so that years ago infant girls were killed. In doing this China has created an imbalance in the male to female ratio. In the Chinese culture, a baby’s birth is not celebrated until the infant is one month old. The family holds a â€Å"red egg and ginger† party. This is the time when the parents introduce their baby to friends and family, who bring gifts for the baby: boys receive â€Å"lucky† money and girls receive expensive jewelry. Parents present each guest with a dyed red egg to symbolize happiness and the renewal of life. Traditionally, gender roles in China are similar to the ones in the United States. The man goes to work, the woman is a housewife. This is changing, especially with the ‘one child policy’ in China. Women are not needed at home as much to take care of children since families are only allowed to have one child. In some cases, a family is allowed to have two children. For example, if the first born is a daughter, they may be permitted to have another child. There is a lot less social distance among Chinese people compared to Americans. It is a collectivist culture – people depend on each other and take care of each other. Chinese people spend a lot less time alone than Americans do. One example of this is the family unit is very close in Chinese culture. It is very common for three or more generations to live together because a lot of people still live with their parents when they have established their own families. Chinese people are more reserved when it comes to physical contact or showing public display of affection, especially in romantic relationships. Chinese people initiate physical contact very gradually compared to Americans. Premarital sex is a lot less common in China than in the United States. Both cultures show traits of openness by allowing individuals to explore their curiosity of the world and show their emotions. They also allow for individuals to be conscientious of their actions, to be self-disciplined, and to be cooperative towards others. As the play opens the audience finds Othello to be a virtuous and dedicated Moor, who was deeply passionate for Desdemona. He wins whatever he desires, whether it is battle or Desdemonas heart. He is not only an army general representing his valour but also respected by his contemporaries. The audience finds no guilt in him to shoulder and he has nothing to hide. He says, I must be found. My parts, my title, and my perfect soul shall manifest me rightly. Othello handles all the matters with nobility as well as forthrightness even when he was accused of abducting Desdemona. He explains his every actions and convinces the audience as well as the court that without any magical power or using drug, he has won over his beloved. Desdemonas own accounts have supported his innocence and unadulterated love. She recounts, Othello's visage in his mind, and to his honours and his valiant parts did I my soul and fortunes consecrate". To the analysts, Othello's innocence has made him gullible and susceptible therefore, he is easily entrapped in Iagos treachery. On the contrary, the antagonist Iago is a snake hidden in the grass. He is the catalyst who sets the innocent Othello into the downward spiral of rage, jealousy, suspicion and finally violence. Iagos hatred of Othellos reputation resulted to vengeance. He masked his evil intention behind manipulation and false rhetoric. The audience will agree that this deceitful man could choose anyone and use him as pawn. He actually sought vengeance to Othello but played with each and every character that came near him. He manipulates Othello and defames Cassio as he replaces Iago in position. Again he manipulates Cassio to win back Othello through Desdemona. Now the question arises that if Othello was so innocent in his nature and loves her lady love Desdemona unconditionally, then why he distrusts her and is beguiled by the treacherous Iago. The analysts say it is the free choice of Othello that he has believed Iago instead of his wife. He was manipulated that Desdemona is not loyal to him. He feels abused therefore questions Desdemonas double dealing. He is enraged with passion and overcome with sorrow. He says, O curse of marriage, that we can call these delicate creatures ours, and not their appetites!" The fatalists convey the idea that Othello was not solely responsible for his doom but it was the play of fate that compelled him to act such a way. Fate and chance are levers that designed the actions. It is the Iagos jealousy that causes transition in the character of Othello. The role of fate in handkerchief episode is one of the most important evidence as it provides Iagos conspiracy a final shape. The fate of Othello creates room for Iago and he utilizes the opportunity full hand. To these researchers, the destiny of Othello has turned his heart into stone and throughout the play cannot realise his flaw. What fate and Iago have shown him, he has seen and cannot perceive beyond that. His madness is the direct result of the manipulation of fate and chance which ultimately convinced him to murder Desdemona in bloody passion. Only at the end of the drama, Othello realises his fault and blames himself for own demise. Having reached the rock bottom, Othello ultimately commits suicide in grief. With the unfolding of the play, the audience cannot draw a clear line between fate and will. It of the same passion that makes Othello a great general as well as a noble husband and ignites his jealousy that led him to fall. His consequence is like Adam and Eve in paradise, who were manipulated by the serpent and chose the path of their free will, ultimately fall for their own action. Othello is not an evil person but innately a noble, honest man. It is the passion that made him great and is responsible for his fatal consequence.

(Kansas, 2008) When teachers are working hard to achieve their highest potential, their students will benefit directly. A teacher?s goals may refer to development in specific areas related to student instruction such as mindset, learning environment, curriculum, assessment, student readiness, student interest, student learning profile and management of a differentiated classroom. These goals are designed to be achieved so, overall, goal setting and professional development for teachers is directly related to the best interest for each student. Goals for Mindset, Learning Environment and Differentiation First, I will enhance my abilities in educating students in order to improve student learning by obtaining my dual Master Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Identification of Obstacles One obstacle in goal setting is that it is not always easy to set clear and productive goals. The failure to set clear goals will result in an unsuccessful learning environment for the teacher and the students. Sometimes, situations change so goals need to be changed and people do not always remember to do this as the need arises, they instead, will often only review and update their goals annually. Another obstacle in goal setting is the failure to set reasonable goals. Well-meaning efforts will fail because of goals that have unrealistic expectations of the teacher and/or the students. Teachers must set goals that they will be committed and devoted to. If a teacher tries to pursue goals that they have no chance of achieving, they are likely to become disheartened and will not want to work toward meeting other goals.
